Our primary goal is to identify the source of a patient’s pain condition and to develop a comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment plan to manage and control pain levels. Since medications treat the symptoms rather than the cause of pain, it is considered a short-term solution and not the most effective option for treating chronic pain. It is our philosophy that the effective treatment of chronic pain requires more than medication. While we prescribe both opioid and non-opioid medications, we believe successful management of chronic pain requires a multidisciplinary approach including • Medication Management • Injection Therapy • Physical Therapy • Psychological Therapy • Self Management Tools If we find it necessary to place a patient on long-term opiate based medication, we consider the patients’ • Past medical history • Personal and family histories of addiction Psychological and social stressors that may affect medication use.
